Teach Ruairí is located in the stunning surroundings of Baltoney or Bealtaine, above Gortahork in Northwest Donegal. The name Bealtaine comes from the Gaelic for May and also the festival that takes place on the first day of that month celebrating the beginning of summer. It is an appropriate place-name for a place of such astounding rural beauty.

The rustic charm of Teach Ruairí has become a landmark of this stunning area and the wonderful scenery itself offers the perfect setting for an Irish country pub. It is a gathering place for local people, where everyone is free to take it easy and share the latest news and their comments, thoughts, opinions and jokes over a pint. But the pub is also a place of welcome from those from further afield and many loyal visitors from the far flung corners of Ireland and indeed the four corners of the globe once lured by the magic spell of Teach Ruairí come back time and again to the pub whenever luck guides them back to the area.

Always a warm welcome at the bar
